One Off Costs
- There are some 1 off joining fees that apply for new members.
- Parents will also need to purchase the section uniform, usually around week 4 if you are new to Scouting, or after week 1 when linking up to the next section.
- Camps and excursions are user pays and the cost of badges are funded by the section from the section subs.
Mount Cotton Scout Group Monthly Pre-Payment Program
Many parents find it easier to make smaller monthly payments, via an automatic bank transfer, to the Mount Cotton Scout Group to build up a credit to be allocated to the Semester 1 and 2 fees when they become due. $35.00 per youth member is the recommended monthly payment, although it is up to the family how much they wish to prepay each month.
Credit Balances are always available for refund if not used e.g. the youth member leaves the Scout Group before the semester fee becomes due.
Making the Finances Work
Monthly pre-payments and Fair Play vouchers are great ways to make Scouting more affordable with so many of us living week to week, but sometimes all the bills land at once and we occasional need some help. We don’t want anyone’s financial position to be a roadblock to Scouting so are always happy to work with parents to manage through these times. Just drop a note to our Group Leader at [email protected] to discuss.
Refund Policy
As the majority of costs are fixed annual or semester payments we are unable to offer a refund on our Membership Fees, Insurance or Group Levies.
Where a youth member resigns from Scouts Queensland during Term 1 (school term) or Term 3, the prepaid Term 2 or Term 4 portion of the Section Subs can be refunded upon request. Please email [email protected] to request a refund of prepaid Section Subs.
